Vibration Monitoring
Introduction to vibration monitoring and ground-borne vibration
Ground borne vibrations are commonly caused by demolition, heavy construction machinery and their activities on a construction site or earth works. This ground borne vibration can travel far underground and can cause irreparable damage to nearby buildings.
Why is vibration monitoring necessary?
A ground borne vibration survey is usually requested from the local planning authorities, i.e. council, usually when requesting to build with large construction equipment, before and/or during construction of the proposed building or dwelling.
This is to ensure that the construction works do not have adverse impacts of residential buildings and areas, and sensitive facilities and devices.
Case Studies
Vibration monitoring casting factory operations and the adverse impact on neigbouring buildings
Industrial vibration monitoring for health and safety and the impact on the neighbourhood
What standards are considered?
We reference British Standards BS6472 and BS5228 to evaluate the vibration levels recorded near construction sites, railway lines, demolition sites etc. or wherever the vibration survey is required.
As experienced vibration engineers, we also provide specialist services in vibration monitoring and data acquisiton and analsysis.
How we help you?
If you require vibration monitoring with a concise report, give us a call to discuss your requirements. We perform attended and unattended (automated) vibration surveys.
We also provide mitigation measures should the vibration levels exceed the permitted limits.
